This class provides Bible study, church education, and fellowship for persons with mental impairments. In Sioux Center, it is a community-wide ministry, which seeks to match one teacher to one student. This ministry welcomes volunteers to serve as teachers.
The goals of the program are:
1) to help the student grow in their understanding of God's world and their place in it;
2) to help students experience the joy and peace of knowing they are of value to God and to His people;
3) to help students grow in their relationship to Jesus Christ so that they claim Him as Savior and Lord;
4) to help students grow in their relationship to Christ's church by making a public profession of faith and contributing to the life and work of the church; and
5) to help the Christian Community to grow in acceptance of and love for persons with mental impairments.
Friendship classes meet on Thursday evenings at First CRC in Sioux Center. For more information, contact Dave Smit.
