Prayer Concerns

Adoration --

Ps. 40:5 ~ “Many, oh LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.”

Adore the God of creation as he is so visible in the changing seasons.

Confession --

Jer. 15:19 ~ “If you repent, I will restore you that you may serve me; if you utter worthy, not worthless words, you will be my spokesman.”

Let us confess our sins so we may be worthy to speak God’s message to others.

Thanksgiving --

Eccl. 4:12 ~ “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Thank God for friends to be supportive in our times of need, so that friend plus friend plus God is three strands.

Be thankful for godly parents and grandparents and the influence their faith can have on generations to come.

Thank God for reformers like Luther, who studied the Word to obtain truth; may we follow his example.

Thank God for the faith displayed by the Van Engens and the Van Hollands, thanking God for providing for them all.

Supplication --

Heb. 4:16 ~ “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Pray for strength and strong faith for John and Jess, and especially their families as they face intensive treatments.

Farmers are busy with harvest, pray for safety in this potentially dangerous occupation.

Ask God for what we need; acknowledge your need of him and he will be generous in his blessing.

Ask God to continue to shape you as a pot of clay; for you to remain malleable and, being soaked in the Spirit, be ready to serve him.

Please pray that all those supporting the OC Pride event, rather than celebrating the sins of the LGBTQ community, will be shown love by Christians and led to repent of their sins.

Pray that the chemo treatments Joanne Talsma, Jodi Hulstein’s mom, is receiving will be effective and tolerable.

Pray that the threat of war brought about by North Korea will lessen.

As we continue to pray for the various churches of our community, we pray this week for the Christ Community Church congregation and the ministry of Pastor Randy Widbin.

Praise:  to our God, El Elyon, (God Most High)
                For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods.  Ps 97:9
                For you make me glad by your deeds, Lord;
I sing for joy at what your hands have done.
How great are your works, Lord,
how profound your thoughts! Ps 92:4-5 (see also vs 1-3)
Give thanks:
  • that we have had a good year with respect to Safe Families in Sioux County
  • for the tireless work of the Bethany staff
  • for a growing relationship between staff and ministry leads in NW IA
  • that Safe Family kids were able to return home after their mom had surgery
  • for all the donations we have received and for those who have given these donations
Be in prayer for:
  • Atlas of Sioux Center and Bethany as they explore working together with the Safe Families ministry.
  • A meeting in Des Moines (just before Christmas) with government officials as Bethany presents a request which impacts how Safe Families operats.
  • The families that have been helped by Safe Families in our area, some of which still continue to experience crisis.
  • Families who are experiencing difficulties: the holidays  often add stress and can exasperate these families into a crisis or lead to other issues at home. Pray that these families would come to our attention that we might bring "light" and peace to their lives.
